Glimpses of Firsts: London's rare books fair
I absolutely loved Firsts. I went on Sunday morning. It was blissful to be surrounded by so many old books.
A very pleasant feeling, that..
Very lovely. It was very quiet. I had been to Offprint on the Saturday, and it was very vibrant and crowded. It felt like at Offprint they were selling the avant-garde magazines and books that will be at Firsts in 100 years.
That John Dee book is amazing! Do you happen to remember what the price was? (Just curious, of course.)
A snip at £500,000. And it was also once owned by John Winthrop, the first Governor of Connecticut. Not bad going.
Looks like a sumptuous feast!
It sure is!
